Sustainability and Impact Reporting
Emissions reported like financials
Sustainability reporting becomes routine when it runs on the same data, controls and calendar as the financial close.
The problem
Most sustainability reports are assembled once a year from spreadsheets, supplier emails and estimates that nobody can trace back to a source. The numbers arrive late, the methodology changes between years, and finance will not sign off on figures it did not produce. Meanwhile SECR already applies to large UK companies, CSRD reaches UK groups with EU subsidiaries, and the ISSB standards are on their way into UK rules. Lenders and customers are starting to ask for the figures quarterly, not annually.
What good looks like
One source for carbon and cash
Emissions are calculated from the same purchasing, energy, logistics and production data that feeds the ledger, so the two never disagree.
A monthly number, not an annual project
Scope 1 and 2 close with the month end; Scope 3 updates as supplier and activity data lands.
An audit trail
Every tonne traces to a transaction, a factor and a version, which is what an assurance provider will ask for.
Targets you can plan against
Reduction targets sit inside the plan beside revenue and cost, so a capex decision shows its carbon effect before it is approved.
How we approach it
Step 1
Map what you must report (SECR, CSRD, ISSB, customer requests) to the data you already hold in SAP, and where the gaps are.
Step 2
Build the emissions data model in SAP Datasphere, with activity data from S/4HANA and factor tables under version control.
Step 3
Calculate and report in SAP Analytics Cloud, with the same hierarchies, security and close calendar as financial reporting.
Step 4
Hand over a monthly process your finance team runs, with Notium 360 behind it if you want support.
Built on
SAP Sustainability Control Tower and Sustainability Footprint Management
Where the client has licensed them we integrate rather than rebuild.
Standard content we start from
SAP ships Green Ledger Reporting for SAP S/4HANA (Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud): greenhouse gas emissions and finance KPIs by scope and category, trends against operating income, gross margin and net revenue, a CO2e flow statement with opening, closing and movements in the style of a cash flow statement, and financial statements with CO2e quantities beside them. EHS Sustainable Operations Insights adds plant level emissions to air and water, waste, GHG by scope and activity, and compliance tasks. Integrated Financial Planning adds GHG planning on the financial plan.
We start from Green Ledger where the client runs it. Where they do not, we build the emission factor model and versioning in Datasphere ourselves and lay the SECR, CSRD and ISSB disclosures on top. The Scope 3 method and confidence by category is ours in both cases.
