Treasury and Cash Reporting
Cash position and forecast, daily
The cash position should be a number on a screen each morning, not a spreadsheet built by lunchtime.
The problem
Treasury pulls bank balances by hand, the short term forecast is a spreadsheet of expected receipts and payments, and covenant tests are calculated quarterly in a hurry. The medium term forecast from finance and the short term one from treasury rarely meet, so nobody can say where cash will be in four months.
What good looks like
A daily position
Bank balances by entity, currency and account, loaded automatically.
A short term forecast from the ledger
Open receivables, payables and payment runs, not typed expectations.
Covenants tracked monthly
With headroom visible before the test date.
Short and medium term forecasts that meet
Treasury's thirteen weeks and finance's plan from the same model.
How we approach it
Step 1
Agree entities, accounts and the forecast horizon.
Step 2
Load bank statements and ledger data into SAP Datasphere.
Step 3
Build position, forecast and covenant reporting in SAP Analytics Cloud.
Step 4
Reconcile for a month and hand over.
Standard content we start from
SAP ships three packages that match this page closely. Treasury Management for SAP S/4HANA (SAP Analytics Cloud, scope item 49P) is a Treasury Executive Dashboard: liquidity by region, company code and currency, bank relationships and fees, debt volume and structure, counterparty limits, bank guarantees and market rates. Liquidity Planning for SAP S/4HANA Cloud predicts twelve months of cash flow with Smart Predict plus rule based logic (DSO, DPO and VAT shift rules). The Working Capital Dashboard on Datasphere gives receivables, payables, inventory and cash KPIs on the Finance Foundation models.
We start from all three where the client has SAP Cash Management. Where they do not, we load bank statements into Datasphere ourselves. Covenant tracking and the join between the thirteen week view and the financial plan are ours in both cases.
